Better Coverage, for Better Business

A healthy business relies on happy employees

But it’s hard for employees to feel confident about their health care without a reliable health plan—resulting in more stress on the job, less productivity, and a lot of inconvenience.

The solution for many has been to find a health plan with low premiums. But a low premium alone won’t prevent out-of-pocket costs from racking up when employees seek out care.

That's why we are looking beyond just the premium, for the benefits employees want and deserve

Many of our plans provide better coverage for things employees use most—like medications, labs and hospitalizations. And for your employees that live and work out of the area, our national coverage on our small group PPO plans supported by the Cigna Network1, gives you peace of mind.

We can offer lower copays for medications, free lab work at any in-network location, and once their deductible is met, they are covered in full for in-patient care—this can mean a lot when they need it the most. And if they are sick, we have nurse care managers who can assist employees in navigating the health care system and help them follow their care plans so they can get better and be healthier—and happier.

National Coverage

Supported by the Cigna Network

Tufts Health Plan believes improvements to our national coverage will benefit employer groups looking to better support a national workforce, as well as those seeking more flexible health care coverage for their employees covered by small group PPO plans including:

  • Employees who travel significantly
  • Employees with multiple residences
  • Employees who spend seasons or significant time in other parts of the country
  • Employees with children attending school away from home

Cost Transparency Saves People Money

Health care costs can vary widely from provider to provider – even for the same service

We believe we can help your employees save money simply by shopping for services. MRI, CT Scans, orthoscopy, many of these types of high-tech imaging that are commonly prescribed by a provider, are often planned in advanced and can be shopped for ahead of time to find the best rate.

Our all-in one cost-estimator and provider search tool can guide employees to the lower-cost, higher-value providers—saving them money on services that will come out of their pocket toward their deductible. And because we have negotiated better deals with providers – we can back up our price and quality with data.

Full-Value Deductible

When employees are worried about paying their medical bills, the stress can affect their productivity on the job

Many of our plans offer a full-value deductible so employees can rest easy knowing they are covered financially should a serious issue arise. Once they meet the deductible, the plan pays 100% for covered services for inpatient care.

A second benefit of our deductible plans is “fourth-quarter carryover.” This allows employees to apply the money they pay toward that deducible in the fourth quarter to the following year’s deductible. Fourth-quarter carryover provides employees greater peace of mind and helps their health care dollars go further.

Lab Work

Lab work is something that everyone needs at one time or another

Our plans provide lab work covered in full at any in-network location—including hospitals—so no need to go to different locations and set additional appointments.

With the extensive size of our network, it’s easy for employees to find a participating lab close by. That means they’ll spend less time and have less hassle traveling to and from appointments.

More Affordable Prescriptions

Right now, spending on prescription drugs in the U.S. rises at a rate faster than any other health care cost

Growing numbers of people can't pay for their medications, forcing too many to skip them altogether.2

With our lower-cost prescription co-payments, members can rest assured they’ll have access to the medications they need to stay healthy.
