In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial for children to continue to receive immunizations and, when clinically necessary, in-person well visits and screenings.
Both the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorse and encourage the continuation of well child visits and immunizations for infants and young children. It is vitally important to not emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic with children at risk for preventable infectious diseases such as measles, whooping cough (pertussis), and others that can cause community outbreaks.
Children’s well visits, screenings and immunizations are considered preventive care, which means they are covered at 100%.1
